Performance Points

A Brief summary of Qualification Values

The intention of the following summary is to provide some clarity on the how the different qualifications we offer at Woodeaton are linked together in terms of progression. With so many different qualifications on the market and at the present time whilst colleges and employers still tend to look at grades achieved it is the ‘performance points ‘described below which ultimately dictates the value of a qualification. In short the higher the number of ‘performance points’ awarded the more difficult the qualification.

All externally accredited qualifications that Woodeaton offers are awarded ‘performance points’. As pupils take more qualifications over time the ‘performance points’ are gathered for each pupil relating to the type qualification they complete.  The ‘performance points’ awarded for a qualification are managed by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations regulation) who then produce the tables below and more which then become part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (The QCF).
